Your generator questions, answered.
Practical answers about selecting, specifying and ordering an open or canopied diesel generator from PPG.
What are the two PPG ranges?
Open diesel generators and acoustic canopied diesel generators. Engine brands and electrical configurations sit within those two formats.
Which engine brands do you offer?
The current specification catalogue contains Perkins, Baudouin, Cummins and Scania configurations.
What does the S at the end of a model mean?
An extra S denotes a canopied set. The preceding letter identifies the engine brand. Scania itself uses S, so a Scania open model ends in S and the canopied version ends in SS.
Can I order a generator online?
Generators are supplied by quotation. Contact us to confirm the final specification, current availability, price and delivery requirements.
Do you supply internationally?
Yes. Provide your destination, voltage, frequency and intended duty so the quotation can cover the required specification and shipping arrangements. The published catalogue currently covers 50 Hz models; ask us about other requirements.
Can you supply an automatic transfer switch?
Tell us the mains supply, generator rating, phase and installation requirements. Transfer switching and control interfaces should be specified as part of the project.
Are the product images exact photographs of the quoted set?
Images are representative generator renders and branding visuals unless otherwise stated. They illustrate the enclosure style; the confirmed build drawing and quotation determine the actual dimensions, layout, enclosure and components. A build-specific image is supplied with the quotation where needed.
Where can I find a technical datasheet?
Every current PPG model page includes a two-page downloadable technical summary. Exact source ratings are preserved, and unavailable information is marked for confirmation.
Can I visit PPG?
Visits to Unit 1, Greets Green Road, West Bromwich, B70 9EJ are by appointment. Call 0121 517 0315 before travelling.
